USTM–Dhanamanjuri University Workshop in Manipur Emphasises NEP 2020, Career Opportunities and Major Scholarship Support

Imphal, May 23, 2026: The University of Science & Technology Meghalaya (USTM), in association with Dhanamanjuri University, Imphal, successfully organised a one-day workshop on “Role of NEP 2020 & Career Opportunities”, with a special session on “How to Crack the UPSC Examination”, at the Commerce Auditorium, Dhanamanjuri University, here today.
The workshop brought together students, academicians, and education leaders from across Manipur to deliberate on the transformative reforms introduced under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the expanding career pathways available to today’s youth.
The programme was presided over by Prof. G. D. Sharma, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, USTM, who also delivered, underlining the role of NEP 2020 in promoting multidisciplinary education, skill orientation, and learner-centric academic frameworks.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Mahbubul Hoque, Hon’ble Chancellor, USTM, highlighted the importance of empowering students from the North-Eastern region through quality education and targeted academic support. He reiterated USTM’s commitment to inclusive growth and regional outreach.

Distinguished speakers, including Dr Dhanavir Laishram, Renowned Social Scientist, Prof. K. Tomba Singh, Registrar, NIT Manipur and several other academicians shared their perspectives on educational reforms, institutional collaboration, and career preparedness under NEP 2020.
As part of its student-centric outreach initiative in Manipur, USTM announced a comprehensive free-ship and scholarship support package exclusively for students of the state. Under the initiative, 10 students will receive full freeship for four years under the BAAG programme, aimed at UPSC Civil Services Examination preparation. Additionally, up to 10 students enrolled in traditional academic programmes will be granted complete fee waivers, while 30 students will be eligible for a 50 per cent reduction in course fees. Further strengthening its commitment to inclusive education, USTM also proposed monthly cash scholarships of ₹2,000 for 50 deserving students, subject to eligibility and selection criteria. Students securing above 70 per cent marks in their qualifying examinations will be eligible to apply for these benefits. A major highlight of the programme was the special session on “How to Crack UPSC”, conducted by Shri Anurag Sharma, National Level Mentor from USTM IAS Academy, who offered practical guidance, preparation strategies, and motivation to aspiring civil servants.
