USTM Observes 77th Republic Day with Patriotic Fervour and Community Participation

Ri-Bhoi, Meghalaya |January 26, 2026: The University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya (USTM) celebrated the 77th Republic Day of India with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit at the Amenity Centre, USTM, on Monday, January 26, 2026.
The programme commenced at 8:15 a.m. with the gracious presence of our Hon’ble Chancellor, Shri Mahbubul Hoque, Vice Chancellor Prof GD Sharma, Hon’ble PRO, Vice Chancellor Padma Shri Dr Sarbeswar Sahariya, Principals of PIMC, IAMC, RINE, along with all the senior faculty members, students, staff, NCC cadets, and members of the university community. This was followed by the arrival of dignitaries at 8:20 a.m. The celebration begins with the unfurling of the National Tricolour at 8:30 a.m., symbolising India’s unity, sovereignty, and democratic values, followed by the rendition of the National Anthem.
An Oath Ceremony was conducted at 8:35 a.m., reaffirming the collective commitment to uphold the Constitution of India and the ideals of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity. Addressing the gathering, the Hon’ble Chancellor, University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya, reflected on the significance of Republic Day and emphasised the role of education, youth, and institutions in nation-building and strengthening democratic ethos.

The celebrations continued with a disciplined Flag March showcasing unity and patriotism, followed by the Ganatantra Gaurav Rally, which witnessed vibrant participation from students and staff, spreading the message of constitutional values and national pride across the campus.
To further foster camaraderie and holistic engagement, recreational games were organised at the Amenity Centre, adding a spirit of joy and togetherness to the occasion.
The Republic Day observance at USTM was a meaningful tribute to India’s constitutional legacy and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to nurturing responsible citizens dedicated to the progress and integrity of the nation.
