The scope of nursing includes diverse specializations such as critical care nursing, oncology nursing, pediatric nursing, and geriatrics. Nurses can work in various healthcare settings, from hospitals to community health centers, and take on roles like clinical specialists, educators, or researchers.

Admission Criteria:

A.N.M. (2 Years Course Including Six Month Internship)

Eligibility Criteria

1. The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years on or before 31st December of the year in which admission is sought.
2. The maximum age for admission shall be 30 years.
3. The minimum educational requirement is passing 12 years of schooling (10+2-year course) recognized by CBSE/ICSE/SSSCE/HSCE or a recognized equivalent examination.
4. Medical Fitness: Admission is subject to a satisfactory medical examination report.

G.N.M.   (3 Years Course Including Six Month Internship)

Eligibility Criteria

1. Minimum education eligibility criteria for admission to GNM:
2. 10+2 with English and must have obtained a minimum of 40% at the qualifying examination from any recognized board. Candidates are also eligible for State Open Schools recognized by the State Government and the National Institute of Open Schools (NIOS) recognized by the Central Government. However, Science is preferable.
3. 10+2 with English, 40% marks in vocational ANM course from the school recognized by the Indian Nursing Council.
4. 10+2 with English having 40% of marks in Vocational Stream-Health care Science from a recognized. CBSE board/State/Centre
5. Registered ANM with a pass mark.

Admission Process

2. Admission of students shall be once a year.
3. Students shall be medically fit.
4. The minimum age for admission will be 17 years. (as of 31st December, of that year).

(The upper age limit is 35 yrs. For ANM/ LHV, there is no age bar).

B.Sc. Nursing (Eight Semester Including Six Month Internship)

The admission process for the BSc Nursing program is conducted through the Government of Meghalaya, Directorate of Health Services. Interested candidates must first complete the online application and pay the prescribed fees, and then appear for the entrance test. Based on their performance in the exam, a merit list will be published, and successful candidates will be selected for admission.

Eligibility Criteria

Age: Applicants must be between 17 and 35 years old as of December 31, 2024.

Educational Qualifications: Candidates should have passed the 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English, securing at least 45% marks in aggregate (40% for SC/ST Candidates).

Application Fee: As per the Government of Meghalaya

Selection Procedure

1. a) Selection of candidates would be based on the merit of the Common Entrance Examination (CEE) conducted by the Director of Health Services (MI), Government of Meghalaya.

Entrance Test shall comprise of:

1. a)            Aptitude for Nursing       : 20 Marks
2. b)            Physics                                : 20 Marks
3. c)            Chemistry                           : 20 Marks
4. d)            Biology                                : 20 Marks
5. e)            English                                : 20 Marks

b) Shortlisted candidates will be notified of counselling through the official website.

c) Original documents, including age proof, educational certificates, and NEET-UG 2025 score card, must be presented during counselling as per the Notification.

d) Selected candidates will undergo a medical examination at their own expense.
