Marphy Chetia has been associated with the University School of Law and Research, as an Assistant Professor of law since 2018. She is currently engaged in the teaching of Criminal law subjects and others like Indian Penal Code, Penology and Victimology, Criminal Psychology, Forensic Science, Prison system and administration, Women and Criminal Law, Family Law, Land laws of Assam and Meghalaya, Offences against Child and Juvenile Justice at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Her area of interest includes Criminal law. She completed B.A.LL.B (Hons) in 2014 secured First class. She further completed LL.M in Criminal Law (specialization) in 2017 secured First class and M.A in Sociology in 2020 secured First Class.
She is a Convenor of the Departmental Advisory Committee (DAC) in the University School of Law and Research, and a member of Board of Studies in USLR. She is engaged as a member of the Guwahati High court and Assam Human Rights Commission. She is also engaged in an NGO (Kalyani Niwas, Shelter home for destitute girls) Located at Guwahati, Assam.
