The Master of Arts (MA) programme in Education reflects new areas of development in this discipline. Starting from the context of students and then move to local, National and International aspects, this discipline aims to combine the broadening of student’s horizon with a sharpening of their intellectual skills and knowledge through the study of composite discipline of Education. USTM in order to cater to the needs and demand of Education discipline at Post Graduate level is set to offer MA in Education. Students can select diverse fields of specialization which would help in career opportunities in the field of education. Education is offered as Major and general in undergraduate level in most of the Degree colleges and as discipline at Post Graduate level both at Public and very few Private Universities in NE region of the country.
Aims and Objectives of MA Education curriculum:
The objective of MA programme is to acquaint the students with study of pedagogy and to train them to become competent individual for the nation. To become a resourceful, competent and useful person, one need not to have mastery over the subject but also have to be acquainted with sociological, philosophical, psychological aspects of human life along with the economical and political needs of life at regional, national and global level. In order to achieve these objectives different relevant issues and practical activities are included in the curriculum so that they can cater to the developmental needs of the human society from regional to global life situation.
Postgraduate Research:
The programme offers various courses in the master degree level emphasizing with the issues and methodology of teaching relevant to the contemporary world. To motivate for the research activities, the program facilitates a 4 credit compulsory course in 2nd semester on Research Methodology in social sciences. By the 4th semester a compulsory course on Dissertation writing is incorporated to explore the educational issues of the region. Through the field visits, institutional visits etc. the programme intends to boost up the students to explore and observe the practical world in a pragmatic manner.
