USTM only Private University from NorthEast in NIRF Ranking

9th Mile, Khanapara, Ri Bhoi, Thursday, September 4, 2025: The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) has once again made its mark on the national stage for the fourth consecutive year!
For the fourth consecutive year, USTM stands tall as the first and only private university in the North East to be ranked among India’s top 200 universities (151–200 band) by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025, Ministry of Education, Government of India.
This prestigious recognition, is based on rigorous assessments across key parameters: Teaching and learning, research and professional practice, graduation outcomes, outreach, and inclusivity perception.
The University extends its heartfelt thank you to the Government of Meghalaya for its unflagging support since day one, the visionary leadership of Chancellor Mahbubul Hoque and Vice Chancellor Prof. G.D. Sharma, whose relentless efforts continue to drive USTM forward. Thank you to our dedicated faculty, supportive parents, and passionate students – your commitment and belief make all the difference.
With continued cooperation, USTM is now aiming higher, declaring, “We are confident that we will be among the Top 50 universities in India, within the next year, with our dedication, hard work, and the validation and support of the Government of Meghalaya to reach this mark. Together, we made this happen. Together, we’ll go even further.”
The University is established through the University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya Act, 2008 of the Government of Meghalaya. This University is a project of Education Research & Development Foundation (ERDF), the largest educational network in the North Eastern region of India.
