USTM Celebrates Community Bonds through Pre-Christmas with Greater Killing Villagers, Recognising Merit and Service

Ri-Bhoi, Meghalaya | December 21, 2025: The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) successfully concluded its Pre-Christmas Village Community Programme 2025 at Jorbil Field, Greater Killing, marking a meaningful celebration of education, compassion, and community partnership ahead of the festive season.
Organised in collaboration with Jorbil Village, the Greater Killing Community, and the USTM Neighbourhood Mission, the programme stood as a vibrant example of USTM’s commitment to inclusive development and social responsibility beyond academic boundaries.
The event was graced by the Bob Dylan of Northeast in the presence of Hon’ble Chancellor of USTM, Shri Mahbubul Hoque, whose address underscored the university’s vision of aligning higher education with grassroots empowerment. He emphasised that true progress is achieved when institutions grow alongside the communities they serve.
The programme featured a series of initiatives aimed at recognising merit and extending support at the community level. Bright students were felicitated for academic excellence, while socially active youths and business leaders of Greater Killing were honoured for their contributions to local development. Village headmen, along with the President and Secretary of All Killing Dorbar, were also felicitated in recognition of their leadership and service.

Adding a strong welfare dimension, blankets were distributed to senior citizens, and a free health camp along with digital health card distribution was conducted by PIMC, reflecting USTM’s commitment to health and well-being in neighbouring communities.
Cultural performances by Khasi and Garo groups added colour and warmth to the programme, celebrating the region’s rich cultural heritage and reinforcing the spirit of unity and harmony that defines the Christmas season.
Speaking on the occasion, representatives of the local community expressed heartfelt appreciation for USTM’s continued engagement and people-centric initiatives, describing the programme as a bridge between education and society.
The USTM Pre-Christmas Village Community Programme 2025 concluded on a note of gratitude, goodwill, and shared purpose—leaving behind not just festive cheer, but a strengthened bond between the university and the people of Greater Killing.
