International Yoga Day observed at USTM
9th Mile, Khanapara, Ri Bhoi, Saturday, June 21, 2025: In today’s rocketing world, Yoga has become an essential accessory for achieving balance, harmony, health, and inner peace. Work-driven people are plunged into pressure, stress, anxiety, and battle to guard their physical and mental well-being. As a refreshing source of inner strength, Yoga offers a holistic approach to health, combining physical postures, breathing techniques, and meditation to calm the mind and build the body.
Today, on the International Day of Yoga, IA Ayurvedic Medical College, USTM, along with PA Sangma International Medical College and various other departments of USTM, came together to celebrate the spirit of wellness and unity through a spirited morning Yoga session. The event embodied the theme of this year’s International Yoga Day, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” spotlighting the profound connection between personal health and the well-being of the planet.
Adding to the spirit of jubilation, the Hon’ble Chancellor of USTM, Shri Mahbubul Hoque, and Pro Vice Chancellor Padma Shri Sarbeshwar Sahariya’s participation added great inspiration to the event.
The program commenced with the serene chanting of Yoga slokas, setting the tone for a day of mindfulness and physical well-being. Prof. (Dr.) Rama Kanta Sarma, Principal of IA Ayurvedic Medical College, delivered a warm welcome address, and Prof. (Dr.) Anil Kumar Sarma elucidated an insightful commentary on the vision behind the International Day of Yoga.
The highlight of the event was the Yoga practice session, conducted by the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP). Faculty, students, and staff gathered in a spirit of unity, embracing the ancient Indian practice that has succeeded in nurturing physical, mental, and spiritual harmony.
The International Day of Yoga concluded on an upbeat mood with the vote of thanks from Dr Parikshit Debnath, Associate Professor, Swasthavritta, IAMC, USTM.
This year’s theme, ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health,’ beautifully reminds everyone about the power of connection between the body, mind, soul, and a healthy, plant-rich planet, which is a dynamic fusion. IA Ayurvedic Medical College of the University of Science and Technology continues to teach the benefits of Yoga and works towards building a healthier, happier, more balanced world.
