Hundreds of Locals Visit and Bless USTM on New Year’s Day 2025
9th Mile, Khanapara, Ri Bhoi, January 1, 2025: The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) today witnessed a heartwarming celebration as hundreds of locals, including children, youth, women, and elderly from neighboring villages, visited the university campus to bless the institution at the dawn of the New Year 2025. The occasion was marked by a vibrant procession, traditional music, and dance, fostering a spirit of community and togetherness.
The celebrations were graced by the presence of USTM Chancellor Mahbubul Hoque, Vice-Chancellor Prof. G.D. Sharma, students, and other members of the university family. The festivities culminated in a prayer gathering at the Central Auditorium’s front yard, where attendees collectively prayed invoking blessings for the continued success and advancement of the university.
Addressing the gathering, USTM Chancellor Mahbubul Hoque emphasized the importance of education and urged parents to ensure their children receive proper schooling. In his speech, he extended a heartfelt invitation to the local community to take advantage of the higher educational and economic opportunities offered by USTM. Highlighting the university’s commitment to regional development, he announced that USTM would provide free education to all children and youth from the surrounding villages. Additionally, he assured entrepreneurial support to families in the area, reinforcing the institution’s mission to foster holistic growth and development.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. G.D. Sharma, while addressing the gathering, lauded the community’s involvement and stressed the vital role of collaboration between the university and its neighbours in achieving shared goals of progress and prosperity.
