USTM Hosts Special Talk on “India over the Years and the Future of its Youth”
Ri-Bhoi, Meghalaya | April 21, 2026: The University of Science & Technology Meghalaya organised a Special Talk on the theme “India over the Years and the Future of its Youth” at its Central Auditorium on Tuesday. The programme featured Shri Kumar Sanjay Krishna, Retired IAS, former Chief Secretary to the Government of Assam, as the distinguished speaker.
Welcoming the gathering, the University highlighted the importance of engaging students with experienced policymakers and administrators who have played pivotal roles in shaping governance at both the state and national levels. The event was attended by senior university officials, faculty members, researchers, and a large number of students.
In his address, Kumar Sanjay Krishna reflected on India’s socio-economic and administrative evolution over the decades, underscoring how effective governance, institutional integrity, and ethical leadership have contributed to the nation’s progress. Emphasising the demographic advantage of India, he described the youth as the country’s greatest strength and urged students to cultivate discipline, adaptability, and a strong sense of public responsibility.
Drawing from his extensive experience in public administration, Shri Krishna stressed the importance of value-based leadership, informed decision-making, and continuous learning in navigating contemporary challenges. He encouraged young citizens to actively participate in nation-building, whether through public service, entrepreneurship, research, or community engagement.
He also shared insights from his tenure as Chief Secretary of Assam during the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting the need for coordinated governance, empathy, and resilience in times of crisis. His remarks resonated strongly with students, offering practical perspectives on leadership and crisis management.
The session was followed by an interactive discussion, during which students posed questions on governance, career pathways in civil services, and the evolving role of youth in a rapidly changing India. The interaction provided a valuable platform for dialogue and inspiration.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the University authorities, who expressed their deep appreciation to the Hon’ble Guest for sharing his time and wisdom.
