Dr. Kabir Ahmed, LL.M. UGC-NET, Ph.D. Associate Professor, USLR University of Science & Technology Meghalaya

PROFILE STATEMENT

Dr. Kabir Ahmed is a legal scholar, researcher, and visionary academic leader dedicated to advancing legal education and institutional excellence. Holding a Ph.D. in Law from Assam University, Silchar, his pioneering research on “Regulation of Insurance Sector in India and the Interest of the Insured: A Critical Analysis” has significantly contributed to the discourse on commercial and insurance law. He also holds an LL.M. with specialization in Commercial Law from Aligarh Muslim University and an LL.B. from Karimganj Law College, further bolstered by his UGC-NET qualification in 2010.

Dr. Ahmed has been instrumental in shaping future legal professionals. As Principal of Karimganj Law College since 2014, he has spearheaded transformative growth, expanding student enrollment from 22 to 180 and increasing institutional funds. Under his academic leadership, the college achieved six consecutive gold medals in LL.B. final examinations, with an outstanding record of seven students consistently ranking among the top ten. His administrative acumen has modernized academic operations, improved faculty welfare, and strengthened institutional governance.

As a scholar, Dr. Ahmed has published articles in esteemed legal journals, with notable works in the field of insurance law. His participation in national legal seminars shows his expertise in commercial and intellectual property law, Committed to professional growth and interdisciplinary collaboration, Dr. Ahmed has actively engaged in faculty development programs and research methodology workshops, contributing both as a participant and a resource person. His involvement in leadership training and national integration initiatives further highlights his dedication to fostering academic and societal progress.

Currently serving as an Associate Professor at the University School of Law and Research, University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya, Dr. Ahmed continues to influence legal scholarship and education. His exemplary contributions have been recognized with the prestigious “UNITY ACADEMIC LEADERSHIP AWARD, 2019” by the Unity Education Foundation, Guwahati, Assam.

• Participated and presented research paper in National Seminar on Insurance of Intellectual Property Rights held at Department of Law, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh on 6^th and 7^th February, 2010.
• Participated and presented research paper entitled “Juvenile Justice System in India- Present and the Future Prospect” in National Seminar held on 16^th January, 2011 at Aligarh.
• Actively participated in a Regional Conference on Good Rural Governance and Citizen Participation organized by the Legal Aid Society, Department of Law, the Department of Social Work and the Society for Outreach and Extension Activities, AUS in collaboration with the Institute of Rural Research and Development (IRRAD).
• Participated in One-day Workshop on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) organized by IQAC, Karimganj College in association with Advanced Institutional Biotech Hub(AIBH), on 19^th January, 2019 as a resource person.

• Worked as Principal, Karimganj Law College, Karimganj, Assam from 5^th September, 2014 to 27^th July, 2024

 

• Worked as Guest-Lecturer in the Department of Law, Assam University, Silchar from July, 2007 to December, 2008 and again from January 2011 to May 2014.
• Worked as Editor of the yearly published College Magazine, The Karimganj Law College Magazine 2003.
• Completed a Six-Months Computer Diploma Course “Fundamentals of Computer” (includes- MS-DOS, Power-Point, MS-Excel, Etc.).
• Discharged Duties as Hostel Prefect for a duration of 3 years in the Karimganj Muslim Students’ Hostel, Karimganj during 2001 to 2003.
