“I don’t work out to get skinny, I work out to be healthy. I don’t eat a salad to be skinny, I eat a salad to be healthy.” – Kelsea Ballerini
Kelsea Ballerini has never been one to shy away from honest conversations about body image. The country star, known for her powerful voice and chart-topping hits, has also been candid about her past struggles with disordered eating and her journey to a healthier, stronger version of herself. Recently, fans couldn’t help but notice a remarkable transformation—a 20-pound weight loss, a toned physique, and a renewed sense of confidence.
But this isn’t a story about crash diets or extreme workouts. Kelsea’s weight loss is a reflection of balance, mindful eating, and sustainable fitness—a journey that many can relate to. So, how did she do it?
Kelsea’s relationship with her body hasn’t always been easy. In past interviews, she opened up about struggling with body image issues and an eating disorder during her teenage years.
“I resorted to taking diet pills and working out excessively to the point of collapsing several times, and when that happened, I knew I needed to change,” she once revealed.
But change didn’t come overnight. It took years of self-reflection, healthier habits, and a shift in mindset to get where she is today.
And now? Kelsea Ballerini’s weight loss isn’t about hitting a number on the scale—it’s about feeling strong, energized, and confident.
Kelsea has been vocal about her love for Pilates, which has been a game-changer in her fitness routine.
“I do Pilates in the morning, three days a week. Before that, I’ll make a smoothie, just a green smoothie, and add coconut water.”
In addition to Pilates, she swears by the Lagree Method—a low-impact, high-intensity workout that focuses on core strength, flexibility, and endurance.
“It’s so different from anything I’ve ever done before, but it makes me feel so strong,” she says.
The combination of Pilates and the Lagree Method helped Kelsea tone her body while improving her posture, flexibility, and core strength.
While Pilates and Lagree are her go-to workouts, Kelsea also incorporates strength training and cardio into her routine.
“I believe in moderation when it comes to my workouts. Some days it’s Pilates, some days it’s weights, and other days it’s just a long walk outside.”
She also relies on high-intensity cardio like jump rope, stair climbing, and resistance training to keep her heart rate up and burn calories.
Kelsea isn’t about strict dieting. Instead, she follows the 80/20 rule, which means 80% of her meals are clean, while 20% allow for flexibility.
“I don’t deprive myself. If I want a burger, I’ll have a burger. But most of the time, I try to make healthier choices.”
Kelsea prioritizes protein in the mornings to keep her energy levels high.
“I have to make sure I get enough protein, enough caffeine, the nights are longer,” she shared.
Touring can make healthy eating a challenge, but Kelsea has found ways to make it work.
“I think, depending on what season I’m in, I change up my diet. When I’m touring, I focus on keeping my energy levels up.”
One of Kelsea’s biggest weight loss secrets? Staying hydrated. She drinks plenty of water throughout the day and enjoys sparkling water as a soda alternative.
“I used to be addicted to Diet Coke, but now I try to stick to sparkling water and herbal teas.”
Kelsea’s transformation isn’t just about losing weight—it’s about gaining strength, confidence, and a healthier mindset.
Here are a few key takeaways from her journey:
✅ Find a workout you love – Pilates and the Lagree Method helped Kelsea stay consistent.
✅ Prioritize balance – She follows the 80/20 rule rather than strict dieting.
✅ Hydrate and nourish your body – Water and high-protein meals keep her energized.
✅ Listen to your body – Some days it’s strength training, some days it’s a long walk.
“At the end of the day, I just want to feel good in my own skin,” she says.
And honestly? That’s what real health is all about.
📸 Before: Kelsea has always been stunning, but in older photos, she’s been open about feeling less confident and out of sync with her body.
📸 After: Now, she radiates strength, health, and self-love—not just in her physical transformation, but in her overall mindset.
“I’ve learned that being healthy isn’t about looking a certain way. It’s about feeling good, being strong, and taking care of myself.”
And that? That’s the kind of weight loss journey worth celebrating.
Kelsea Ballerini’s weight loss journey is a testament to finding balance, embracing self-love, and prioritizing health over size. If there’s one thing to take away from her story, it’s this:
🚀 Focus on feeling good, not just looking good.
💪 Strength matters more than a number on the scale.
🥗 Healthy eating is about nourishment, not restriction.
At the end of the day, it’s not about being “skinny.” It’s about being strong, happy, and confident in your own skin. And that’s a transformation worth striving for.
