DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY

Academic Focus:

Established in the year 2012, the Department of Chemistry at USTM has been offering B.Sc., M.Sc, and Ph.D. programmes. The academic curriculum of the department has been framed to enable the students to achieve a good understanding of the subject and follows the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS). We collaborate with different organisations to create new inputs and materials for our teaching and research. The Department has already developed a strong association with the leading research institutes of the region to collaborate on research, namely, IIT Guwahati, CSIR-NEIST, Jorhat, CIPET, Guwahati, AMU, and Aligarh. The research activities are currently centered on environmental chemistry, synthetic methodologies, and photo-catalysis. The ongoing research is mainly funded by in-house departmental grants and by the Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi.
