USTM Secures 18th Rank in Fortune 100 National Institutional Index 2026

Ri-Bhoi, Meghalaya | 16th February 2026: In a proud and historic achievement, the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) has secured the 18th position in the Fortune 100 National Institutional Index 2026, earning international recognition for its exemplary contributions toward advancing education aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the UN 2030 Agenda.
The National Institutional Index was officially unveiled during the Global Conference on Education for Sustainable Future (GCE2026) held at the United Nations Conference Centre, Bangkok, Thailand, on 11th February 2026. The event marked a landmark moment in recognising institutional excellence, governance leadership, research impact, and sustainability-driven education.
On this distinguished occasion, USTM’s Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. G. D. Sharma, received the Certificate of Recognition from the FORTUNE Institution Index, formally acknowledging the University’s inclusion among the Fortune 100 Institutions.
The honour was conferred in the esteemed presence Her Excellency Lyonpo Yeezang De Thapa, Hon’ble Minister of Education & Skill Development, Royal Government of Bhutan, His Excellency Andrew Egan, Minister and Deputy Head of Mission, Australian Embassy, Bangkok, His Excellency Michel Parys, Ambassador of Belgium to Thailand, Dr. Datchnamoorthy Ramu, Chairman, SDG Council & UN Representative in India, Mr. Gokulnath Mathiyazhagan, Secretary General, SDG Council, Miss Roohi Mohazzab Ghani, Founder of The Children Movement for Climate Compassion
The Fortune 100 National Institutional Index ranking was determined through a rigorous and multidimensional evaluation framework that assessed institutions on key performance indicators such as academic excellence and innovation, the strength of institutional governance and visionary leadership, the depth and impact of research contributions and knowledge creation, and a demonstrated commitment to sustainability aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ensuring a holistic appraisal of overall institutional quality and long-term societal impact.
USTM’s 18th rank reflects its sustained global commitment to responsible education, climate consciousness, sustainable innovation, and inclusive development. Over the years, the University has strategically integrated SDG frameworks into its academic curricula, research initiatives, campus operations, and community outreach programs.
