USTM Conferred ‘University of the Year 2025’ for the Second Time

Ri-Bhoi, Meghalaya, January 16, 2026: The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) has been conferred the Prestigious Excellence Award – “University of the Year 2025” by Academic Insight at the Education Excellence Awards and Summit Ceremony, held in Bengaluru.
The national-level ceremony witnessed the participation of nearly 200 eminent education leaders, academicians, policymakers, and representatives from leading educational institutions across India, making the recognition a significant milestone in USTM’s academic journey.
The award was jointly received by the Hon’ble Chancellor of USTM, Shri Mahbubul Hoque, and the Vice Chancellor, Prof. G. D. Sharma, in recognition of the University’s consistent excellence and transformative contributions to higher education. Notably, this marks the second consecutive year that USTM has received the Excellence Award, following its recognition in 2024, underscoring the University’s sustained academic leadership and institutional credibility.
USTM’s recognition as a distinguished university was based on a comprehensive evaluation of multiple parameters, including the quality of education in science, technology, and multidisciplinary domains. Special emphasis was placed on the University’s integration of Artificial Intelligence, sustainability initiatives, healthcare education, cutting-edge research projects, patents, research publications, and innovation-driven impact.
The award jury also acknowledged USTM’s strong industry–academia partnerships, which have significantly enhanced student projects, internships, and placement outcomes. The University’s meaningful contribution to regional development, along with the notable achievements of its alumni, further reinforced its vision-driven approach to higher education.
USTM’s unwavering commitment to its mission of promoting educational equity in North East India, while nurturing global competencies and inclusive growth, emerged as a defining factor behind the recognition.
