Singh had warmly welcomed the University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya for taking such a great initiative. He had highlighted the fact it is disheartening that most of the research works done by different institutions do not reach to the policy makers and hence he had urged that the gap between the institutions, academicians and policy makers can be bridged if an integrated and inclusive strategy can be evolved with the partnership between private and govt. sector. He had cited examples like from North East Region which is more seismic-prone. And only through mapping vulnerable structures using space informatics in the North East Region and making people aware, sensible and alert by the use of Earth Science technology can only save people of this region from natural disaster like earthquake.
