Placement Cell

 

USTM provide to the students many opportunities and experiences within the degree programme and beyond such as work-based learning, volunteering, industrial visit, field visit, mentoring professional support services, etc. as per the courses they are pursuing. For the last part the University has its own separate Placement Cell which *is committed to provide all possible assistance to its graduates and post graduates in their efforts to find employment.

USTM Placement cell has already started activities that will go on yearlong to facilitate liaison between its students and prospective organizations. In other words along with bringing in job opportunities for the students the USTM Placement Cell will also engage the students with the various corporates, Public & Pvt. sector companies, media houses, industries, IT firms, Govt. Bodies, NGOs etc. for training , internships and campus recruitment.

At the end of the second last and last semesters on-campus as well as off-campus along with Pool Campus job interviews will be facilitated by this cell as required. Also as is deemed necessary pre-placement training programmes will be organized by the placement cell in USTM to enhance the employability of the targeted students.

USTM Placement Cell invites corporates, media houses, industries, IT firms, NGOs etc to associate with the University and its students.

The efforts of the placement cell of USTM is directed at achieving a win-win situation for both � our students and the organizations recruiting them.

The Training & Placement Division at USTM forms an Interface between academics & corporate world. It helps students in making better & informed Career Choices.

With a view to streamline the communication process, functioning of the Training & Placement Cell with the Objectives of addressing the requirements of Students from various disciplines we at USTM, have a Training & Placement Department, governed by the Advisory Council, as well as a team of Faculty associated with the Training & Placement Cell. Above that we have nominated student members as part of the Training & Placement Committee to give their valuable inputs, coordinate with the rest of the students. A mutually stimulating, qualitative & quantitative swing in the direction of overall improvement marks the dynamics & mechanics of a well oiled Training & Placement Division, trying to maintain a perfect balance between Academics & Corporate Interface. The Training & Placement Cell is making all possible efforts to move in the right direction to achieve its objectives for longer interest of student and make them Industry ready by organising activities in the campus with participation of Business Leaders for experiencing sharing sessions, conduct skill related workshops.

Other than Academic knowledge they gain during their stay at the University, the cell makes concrete efforts to train them up on basic soft skills, self grooming, body language, group discussion, mock interviews, self development programs, presentation techniques, art of public speaking, skills for facing interviews & other areas to enhance the employability factor of the students to help them secure suitable employment by guiding them to become excellent professionals � Corporate/Industry Savvy.

We the Training & Placement Cell at USTM very strongly believe that long term sustainability of our relationship with Industry for Training & Placement of our students can be a success by making sincere effort in the following areas. Assessing the needs of various industries & providing inputs to concerned departments in the form of internal feedback or through interactions with Senior Professionals, premier education & research associations so that required skill set is imparted to our students.

Students of MBA Department have been training in different organizations/ Industries such as Pantaloons, Max Cement, Topcem Cement(MCL), Varun Beverages Ltd., ASEB, Indian Oil Corporation,(AOD), Future Value Retail Ltd, GNRC Hospital, G.L. Publication Private Ltd., Pepsico, Jagdale Food and Beverages, Pibco Hero, North Eastern Tubes Ltd., IOCL, HUDCO, Bigbazar, AEGCL(Assam Electricity Grid Corporation Limited.), HPCL, Coca-Cola, Emami & other Industries.

Other than the Management Students, the Training & Placement Division makes concrete efforts to make sure that students from other professional courses are given fair amount of exposure to their related industries/Scientific Research Organisations, etc.

The Sociology & Social Work students have been involved in various project driven activities in NIRD (Guwahati), SIRD, NIPCCD (Guwahati), ASACS (Guwahati) CRS, NECHA, KGMNT, BRO, WHO, UNICEF, International Red Cross Society, NRLM, AIDS Control Society, NRHM, NNRUM, ASHADEEP, SSA, RMSA, Social Welfare Deptt., Shankardeva Kalakshetra, OMDUM, NONGPU CIVIL HOSPITAL, GLOBAL HOSPITAL (Guwahati) Etc.

The Bio-Technology, Bio Chemistry, Zoology and Botany, students of USTM have undergone training in HPCL - Tissue Culture Lab, College of Veterinary Science, ARIASP, Assam Agricultural University for Lab Experience/Demo in Micro Biology, Molecular Biotechnology , IASST, Boragaon , Manash Wilife Sanctuary etc. A couple of students have chosen to go through Internship Training CVS (AAU) sponsored by Department of Bio-Technology. Some have got themselves associated with Project sponsored by IASST.

The students of Chemistry Department have been visiting the following at regular interval. Research Labortaries (CSIR � NEIST) , Jorhat & CSIR � CRRI, New Delhi, Toklai Tea Research, Jorhat, Rain Forest, Jorhat, North East Hill University (NEHU), Shillong and IIT, Guwahati. Final semester students of Chemistry done their major project in CSIR-NEIST, Jorhat under the guidance of Scientists working there.

Students of other courses like MCA, Electronics, Psychology, and Education are having their internship in respective organization of repute in NE, India. For students who aspire to be in the teaching profession we have provided in house coaching for NET, SLET and other competitive examination by conducting special classes.

Placement cell of the University is in touch with most of Corporate and Pvt. Sector organistion for conducting Campus Placement drive. Some of such companies are in queue for conducting placement drive for the final semester students.
