Empowering the women, including those from the deprived sections of society has been the prime policy thrust at USTM. Among the areas of economic activities which provide sustained and dignified livelihood options to women from marginalised sections of society, rendered inaccessible to women , by the glass ceiling is the career as a women driver. To overcome this handicap, USTM has incorporated the Women driving school with Ms Meghana Rai as the director. The driving school also doubles up as a finishing school, so that the women driver are well versed with the law of the land, the rights of citizen, mainly women, basic information about the area to inform and entertain the inquiries from the tourists and many more. To make place for women drivers in homes, these are empowered with the basic skills of banking, teaching and attending to the sick as well as the elderly. The driving school takes full responsibility for training(in the USTM campus), providing licence, providing placements, and sorting difficulties in the career if at all.
