Ri-Bhoi Police, RIST & USTM jointly organised Road Safety Week-2014
To observe the ongoing Road
Safety Week, University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya (USTM) and Regional
Institute of Science and Technology (RIST) in collaboration with Ri-Bhoi Police,
Govt of Meghalaya have organised an awareness programme on Road Safety in
Byrnihat. To mark the occasion a rally was taken out from Jorabat to Byrnihat,
where more than 300 students participated. The students had displayed different
slogans & placards related to road safety. The theme for this year is “When on
the road, always say ‘Pehle Aap’”.
Later in the community hall of
Byrnihat, Mr. Souvik Dey, a 4th semester student of Civil Engineering of RIST
have given a PPT presentation on “Road Safety Awareness” in presences of a large
number of locals, Students & high Police officials of Nongpoh & Byrnihat area.
The Programme was graced by Shri CVS Reddy, SP, Ri-Bhoi, Mr M. Hoque,
Chancellor, USTM, Dr PC Mahanta, Director, RIST , OC, Byrnihat and several
others guests of the locality.
Speaking on the occasion SP, Ri
Bhoi said that Road Safety Week is celebrated every year all over the country to
spread the message of road safety & to maintain discipline on the roads. He also
added that common people should cooperate with the administration to maintain
the discipline on the roads. He also Thanked all the students, teachers and
officials of both the institutions to make the rally a success and expressed his
desire to organise more such events in collaboration with USTM and RIST.
Mr M. Hoque, in his speech
stressed on obeying the road safety protocols for a better and safer living for
the people and society at large and thanked the district administration.
