NATIONAL WORKSHOP ON “DATA ANALYSIS WITH STATISTICAL TOOLS”

A Three day Workshop on the
topic ‘Data Analysis using Statistical Tools” is organized by the Department of
Business Administration ,University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya from
06/01/2016 – 08/01/2016 at the university campus. Recent developments in the
area of various research disciplines are compelling research scholars, post
graduate students and research aspirants to understand the importance of
statistical tools in context of data analysis and quantitive reasoning to
extract information intelligently from a given set of data. The objective of the
workshop is to identify the advantageous use of statistical tools and its
applicability in the field of Research Study to facilitate decision making.
Realizing the importance, the present workshop is aiming to give lectures and
training on the data analysis using these Statistical tools. The participants
will be exposed to the statistical background and fundamentals behind the tools
along with practical training.
In the inaugural function, which was on 6th January, 2016 at 11.00am, Professor
Amit Choudhury, Head, Department of Statistics, Gauhati University highlighted
the importance of application of statistical tools. Mr M. Hoque, Chancellor,
USTM, highlighted the applicability of various statistical concepts into the
area of research findings. The Chief Guest of the day Prof Dilip Chandra Nath,
Department of Statistics, Gauhati University asked the participants to use the
statistical tools correctly and apply it to respective research work types. Dr.
P. G. Rao, Vice Chancellor USTM also encouraged the participants to focus on new
arena of research and make it more applied. Prof Alaka Sharma, Dean Student
Welfare & Social Sciences & Humanities explained the difficulty in collecting
authentic data from especially North Eastern regions.
